At Least 100 Feared Dead As Tornadoes Hit US States. Several tornadoes struck a number of US states overnight, with reports of more than 50 people killed. This is all that’s left of an Amazon warehouse in Illinois after a tornado struck the building, in what’s being described as a ‘mass casualty event’ by officials. Drone footage filmed in Mayfield, Kentucky shows toppled buildings and damaged cars. Up to 100 people may have been killed as tornadoes and storms hit several US states.us tornadoes today.

 

A series of hurricanes hit six U.S. states in the south and midwest of the country, destroying buildings and causing tens of thousands of deaths. The governor of Kentucky said the death toll in the state could be between 70 and 100. The NOAA, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said the hurricane formed between Friday night and Saturday.

In the southern state of Kentucky, the candle factory collapsed when there were about 110 people. Many of them are believed to be trapped in the rubble and rescue work is ongoing. Kentucky Governor Andy Bessier declared a state of emergency in his state. He told reporters on Saturday that the death toll in the state could “exceed 100 by the end of the day.”

In the Midwestern state of Illinois, the warehouse of online retailer Amazon was badly damaged. Two people were confirmed dead at the scene. The American media also reported deaths in the states of Tennessee and Arkansas. But the death toll and the extent of the damage are unknown.

In a Twitter post on Saturday, US President Joe Biden said he had been briefed on the devastating hurricane. He wrote, “The loss of a loved one in a storm like this is an unimaginable tragedy. We are working with governors to ensure that they survive the search and damage assessments that continue. The White House announced on Saturday morning that Biden had spoken to Peshier on the phone to offer condolences to the victims.

It says the president has ordered FEMA and other federal agencies to provide immediate assistance to affected communities.
